Review: Grape Runtz Disposable Vape by Vapin’ Ape
It’s no secret that early (especially medically based) cannabis branding was relatively clinical and boring. As the market has matured and competition has increased, though, brands have leaned toward more playful, fun, and overall impactful branding approaches. Illinois newcomer Vapin’ Ape is built on a playful good-time image. I recently had the opportunity to stop at Consume Marion and pick up a Vapin’ Ape Grape Runtz disposable vape to review.
Vapin’ Ape Grape Runtz Disposable Vape is a 1-gram distillate-based oil infused with cannabis-derived terpenes. This vape tested at 0.327% CBD, 76.64% THC, and 80.54% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 8.47% of the total weight.

Three and three-quarters-of-an-inch long, three-quarters-of-an-inch wide, and a quarter-inch wide, the vape was easy to slip into a pocket alongside a phone or keys. Clad in a soft touch black plastic with a small Vapin’ Ape script logo across the front and a small indicator light, the hardware was discrete. A large visibility window revealed a transparent honey-amber oil that remained dense and slow moving even when warmed by chained hits.
The top of the flavor profile carried light notes of wildflowers and lilac, followed by a much denser mix of cacao nibs, mixed berry preserves, sweet artificial grape syrup, and a tangy finishing note of chemical-diesel. The hardware was capable of strong, heavy clouds, but the flavor remained stable and consistent from pull to pull.
A warming wave of muscle relaxing pressure cascaded down from my crown into my chest after a few minutes. While the buzz expanded, it became a heavier pressure, slowing my movements and tiring me as the experience peaked. My awareness remained crystal clear throughout the experience, but I was overcome with a peaceful calm, leaving me less reactive to the world around me. Best fit for the end of the day, the Vapin’ Ape Grape Runtz Disposable delivered on its indica label.
