Review: Grapefruit Sour Diesel by Rythm
Tangy citrus sativas are a bit of a focus point for the team here at Illinois News Joint. We love using cannabis as part of our work routine and finding the best fit is a never-ending process. Rythm Grapefruit Sour Diesel fits the bill by name, so I picked up a sample at Rise Effingham to see if it fit our other Work Sativa review series criteria.
Grapefruit Sour Diesel is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Grapefruit and Sour Diesel. This batch of flower tested at 0.87% THC, 22.05% THCa, and 22.92% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were 0.08% α-pinene, 0.3% β-caryophyllene, 0.22% β-myrcene, 0.09% β-pinene, 0.13% limonene, and 0.08% linalool.

Two large, loose structured flowers alongside one small bud piece made up the eighth. Deep-forest green with thin bright orange hairs, these nugs were encrusted with a light amber trichome frost. These flowers had been slightly over trimmed leaving a less than stellar structure.
The bright and sharp aroma inside the jar was a blend of lemon-lime, hot diesel, grapefruit, and the characteristic “burnt orange” tang of terpinolene. The scent was awakening in its brightness, and that carried over to the palate. Tart grapefruit and hot diesel did indeed dominate the flavor at the inhale, but the backend carried an herbal note of fresh basil.
The Grapefruit Sour Diesel experience profile was just as energetic as its aroma with a fast acting punch up in both energy and focus. A spacious and clearheaded mind space allowed me to focus on the task at hand initially, but over time the energy overran the focus, and I became distracted. This mirrored the physical aspects as well which started as a light tingle limited to my crown before becoming a full body pulse of excitement and euphoria.
Overall, I enjoyed the bright aroma and flavor and the front end of the experience profile fit as a Work Sativa, but the back end became a bit too energetic and distractible to keep me on task. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
