Island Cannabis Co. has released an extensive line of 1-gram joints, so I picked up at Emerald Dispensary a Grease Monkey Preroll to review.

Grease Monkey is a hybrid cross of GG4 and Cookies & Cream, originally bred by Exotic Genetix. This preroll tested at 0.01% THC, 31.953% THCa, and 34.247% total cannabinoids.

Densely packed in a traditional bleached cone with an unbranded crutch, the Grease Monkey preroll came slightly shorter than I was expecting. Untucking the flat-top end revealed a ground turf-green flower with a light trichome frost still visible in the grind. Despite the density, the cone burned clean and evenly with a stark white ash.

Inside the tube a dense mix of tangy diesel, tea leaves, cloves, and fresh parsley floated atop a savory undercurrent of hot asphalt, black pepper, bell peppers, and cut lumber. It was the sharpest and spiciest tones that carried through to the palate. Notes of clove, diesel, pepper, and tar coated the tongue and remained detectable on the palate for more than five minutes after the joint was finished.

Initially a fast-acting perception shift boosted my mood and sent a wave of tingling euphoria out from my spine. This positive and sativa-like change only lasted for the first 10 minutes before slowly shifting towards a heavier mental and physical state. The euphoric tingles became a generalized all over pressure, while the optimistic mood became a spaced out and detached headspace that left me tired.
