Review: Grim Bastard OG Live Budder by Revolution
By @Medsforheads
One thing I have always appreciated about Revolution is its rigorous pheno hunting and selection of great genetics that produce the robust flavor and effect profiles in the cultivator’s lineup. Revolution’s cut of Grim Bastard OG, a cross of Biker Kush and Black Banana bred by Solfire Gardens, seamlessly blends classic kushy potency and new-school refinement.

First enjoyed in flower for its rich, resinous smoke and reliably stony “indica” high, this time I grabbed the live budder from Greengate Chicago, testing at 78.18% total cannabinoids. The slushy texture of the light-colored resin was easy to handle and gave me the impression of a full gram’s worth of servings more so than some saucier concentrates that I seem to vanquish too quickly.
As I opened the efficiently minimal packaging, I was struck with dismay once I saw the pale budder, worried that the thorough removal of pigments had also wrenched away precious terps. However, one sniff put all my concerns to rest with true-to-plant rotten banana funk and floral kush on the nose.
This extraction captured significant amounts of limonene, myrcene, b-caryophyllene and elemene, which worked in tandem to create a strong and sedating effect. Patients using concentrates for acute pain relief would likely appreciate the floaty, punch-drunk physical sensation as well as the minor numbness in the lower limbs that I experienced.

Dabs around the 530F mark were flavorful, with fresh sliced bananas in the background and a biting lemon rind finish in the saturated vapor that tickled my throat. Within minutes of a session, my stress had disintegrated, and my body felt like a lava lamp.
Compared to Rev’s jellies and sauces, this budder consistency offered greater utility and more homogeneous scoops, and the scrubbing of impurities enabled me to dab slightly hotter than average to reap thicker clouds without staining my quartz.
Overall, I thought this meditative and anesthetic extract was a great choice for evening medication.
