Review: Gruntz Surf Disposable by Bloom
One of the first labels to benefit from the Illinois craft license expansion has been California-based brand Bloom. Via the label’s partnership with the 1937 Group, Bloom has continued to push new vape flavors since its debut. I recently spotted the Gruntz Surf Disposable at Parkway Dispensary in Tilton and picked up one to review.
Bloom Gruntz Surf Disposable is a distillate-based oil infused with cannabis derived terpenes. This vape tested at 89.49% THC and 92.65% total cannabinoids.
With roughly the same footprint as a Bic lighter, the Bloom Surf sat comfortably and discretely in my palm. The aptly named vape was shaped like a slightly inflated surfboard with a small white indicator light in the center, a black plastic mouthpiece/visibility window combo at the top, and a soft touch beige plastic on the bottom two thirds. The vape was as simple as possible with no setting, buttons, or ports and a hit to activate mechanism.
A long pull provided a candy forward blend of sweet berry and lemon tones working together on the palate to create a surprisingly accurate flavor portrait of the actual Runtz candy on the inhale. The back end was lighter than the sweet top end but turned the profile on its head with a roasted herb finish of thyme, parsley, and wild grass. The entire profile disappeared from the palate almost immediately upon exhale.
After a few long pulls, a spaced-out awareness took over, leaving me slightly detached from the situation at hand. A warming sensation in my body was paired with a tightening headband pressure at the peak, but the mental aspect outweighed the light physical sensations. Introspective and calm, the Gruntz Surf Disposable mental space was best fit for time alone. The entire experience peaked and cleared within an hour with a peaceful headspace sticking around for the following hour and a half.
