Review: Guava Bars by Galaxy Labs
Galaxy Labs has been continuously adding strains to the brand’s profile since it came to market. Recently, at the Illinois Craft Showcase, the label had more than five new strains fresh out of R&D testing. I picked up one of those new strains, Guava Bars, to review.
Guava Bars is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Biscotti and Guava’z #74. This batch of flower tested at 1.51% CBGa, 1.58% Delta 9 THC, 28.83% THCa, and 31.92% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.95% of the total weight with β-caryophyllene, limonene, β-Myrcene, and α- humulene being the most prevalent.
One large Christmas-tree-shaped cola barely fit into the jar. Varied shades of green from bright turf to dark forest intermingled beneath a dense network of thick outreaching rust-colored hairs. The entire flower glittered when viewed in the light, highlighting the layer of trichomes that had just transitioned from clear to milky. The flower was dense with a sticky resinous feeling to the core but still ground up to a pleasant fluffiness.
Inside the jar a tropical top-end blend of unripe guava, pineapple, and pear intermingled with notes of fresh dill and briny ocean, followed by a warming finish of leather and cut lumber. The fruit tones carried over to the palate as a lighter hint of pear, banana, and sea salt right at the front, while the warmer tones of leather and cut lumber followed quickly to provide the rest of the profile. Despite the rich finishing notes, it was the hint of brine that clung to the palate after exhale.
Guava Bars was fast acting, inducing an optimistic mood shift, while simultaneously relaxing my muscles throughout my body and creating an overall sensation of floating. My energy levels remained steady and my focus intact, making Guava Bars a solid choice for mental or physical work. A playfulness stuck with me even after the rest of the effects had dissipated. Overall, Guava Bars paired a tropical-forward flavor profile with a mentally positive/physically relaxed hybrid effect that could fit into my day anytime.
