Review: Hazmat OG Live Sugar by Grassroots
With the list of cannabis strains expanding year after year, it can be easy to miss names I should already know. At times, I see on menus a cultivar I have heard about in passing but never had the opportunity to sample. Hazmat OG by Grassroots was one of those strains, so I picked up from Curaleaf Mokena a .5g of Hazmat OG Live Sugar.
Hazmat OG is a hybrid cross of Chemdog 91 and Face Off OG Bx1 from Archive Seed Bank. This batch of live sugar tested at 1.35% THC, 81.89% THCa, and 84.52% total cannabinoids.

This live sugar had a deep amber color turning burnt orange depending on the lighting. The generous moisture content holding the tiny crystals together gave the sugar a glistening translucency that became more noticeable as more light was applied. The consistency was spot on with some sugar-style grittiness balanced with enough stickiness to keep dosing from being a pain.
The aroma from the jar opened tropically with a juicy, acid-forward combination of pineapple, pomelo, and grapefruit. Under this fruit forward opening, I detected a woody pairing of cedar and pine and a big punch of hot diesel. When vaporized, the diesel became the heaviest note, overriding the fruit so completely that it became almost undetectable. Despite the chemical tang of the diesel, the flavor was light and disappeared quickly.
Hazmat OG is described as a true hybrid, and the effect profile absolutely lived up to that promise. The physical experience was neither tiring nor energizing and was more of a vague overall lightness and relaxation that never became heavy, no matter the dose.
My mindspace could be best described as playful and lighthearted, even after multi dab sessions. This easygoing and fun aspect made this an easy fit for any time of day and really any use case. For more Illinois News Jointreviews, visit here.
