Review: Heavy Strawberries by Korner Boys
Korner Boys, from Atomic Acres, initially captured my attention at the Illinois Craft Showcase with its playful packaging and booth antics. As a strawberry enthusiast, though, it has been the brand’s Heavy Strawberries strain that has kept my attention.
Heavy Strawberries is a hybrid cross of Permanent Marker and Strawberry Torte. Very pale turf-green slightly-foxtailed flowers were encrusted with a milky trichome frost and thick bunches of rust red hairs. The buds were dense in the hand with a dry surface but tacky and sticky centers. Despite the dry exteriors, the flowers ground into a nice light fluff.

In the bag, sweet notes of fresh berries, magnolia blooms, and parsley blended into notes of heavy cream, buttered popcorn, roast malt, and wet slate. There was considerable depth to the aroma, and I continued to find new scents and blends as I worked my way through the bag. The delicate, sweet berry notes carried over to the palate, followed by the warmer flavors of buttered popcorn and roast malt with the heavy cream appearing right at the end of the exhale. Surprisingly the sweet strawberry tone was the longest lasting, clinging to the palate throughout the flavor profile and for a few moments post exhale.
Initially, my awareness window and headspace became wide and spacious, bringing me into the moment and slowing my train of thought to a crawl. My energy levels remained steady, but my motivation was sapped as a warming, muscle relaxing buzz started to spread through my body. The heavy physical pressure hung on for more than an hour even as the mental state returned to baseline. Overall, Heavy Strawberries delivered on real berry flavor and a relaxing indica-hybrid high.
