Review: Infused Chamoy by NuEra
With the release of the brand’s infused giardiniera last year, nuEra is no stranger to infused foods. The brand recently followed up by partnering with Michelin-starred Chicago restaurant Carino to release an infused chamoy. I recently stopped at nuEra Champaign to pick up a jar of nuEra x Carino Chamoy to review.
NuEra x Carino Chamoy comes as a 2-ounce jar of chamoy, infused with 50mg of THC per jar. The ingredients were strawberries, mangos, plums, tamarind, lime juice, chili de arbol, salt, citric acid, and cannabis extract.

Vibrant purple-red with small pieces of fruit and seeds still visible, the chamoy was thick with the same viscosity of a dense smoothie. Dippable and spreadable, I was impressed by the versatility of the sauce. Besides the standard fresh fruit and candy dipping, I found myself using it on sandwiches, crackers, chips, with soups, and in drinks.
The fruit led the scent out of the jar with sweet notes of fresh berry, mango, and citrus on the top. Underneath this sweet top note, a hint of the warming spice came through, but the sweet and fruity tones led the aroma. The spice came out on the palate, blending into the sweet fruit tones to create a heavy wave of flavor that triggered sweet, salty, sour, and heat all at once. The heat clung to the tongue, remaining long after any other flavors.
The low dose and small serving size made for a subtle experience that took a full 45 minutes to peak. Physically lighter, my muscles relaxed enough to leave me with an all-over floating sensation. Mentally, my anxiety lightened. A boost of clarity and confidence lifted my mood while keeping me present. The nuEra Chamoy was a winner on taste alone, and the clearheaded mood boost was a chamoy-dipped cherry on top.
