Review: Item 9 Live Resin by Bedford Grow
Sativas and terpenes, two words that get my attention. Anytime I spot a high terpene extract with energetic genetics it’s going on my list of must tries. That catapulted Item 9 Live Sauce from Bedford Grow to the top of the sample list when I recently picked it up from Maribis Springfield.
Item 9 is a sativa leaning hybrid cross of Exodus Cheese and (G13 X Hawaiian). This batch, labeled as “live sauce,” tested at 56.49% THCa, 7.3% D9-THC, 3.48% CBGa, and 68.85% total cannabinoids. The total terpene panel weighed in at 27.61% with more than 7% b-myrcene, more than 6% limonene, and more than 5% terpinolene.

The live resin presented as a thick golden amber sauce with small sugar crystal diamonds clumped together. The sauce still had enough flow that I could separate the two components with the help of gravity to get a nice diamond and sauce dip strategy going for my dosing.
The aroma from the jar was as intense as I would expect from a 27.6% terpene extract. Black pepper, herbaceous notes of thyme and oregano, fresh pine, and tangy bitter hops gave the top end a vegetal richness before the sweet and tart playfulness of berries and lemon came in to steal the show. The flavor carried the rich herbal tones through flawlessly and while none of the heaviness of the pepper and hops was lost, the sweet and tangy fruit finish was nowhere to be found.

While I came in expecting an energy burst, Item 9 performed much more like a middle ground hybrid than an energizing sativa. The headscape wasn’t creativity inducing or energetic but relaxing and introspective. Item 9 left my mind calm and carefree and without much motivation to do much else but enjoy the calm.
The body high was euphoric and took quite a bit of time to build to its climax but took care of my aches and pains almost immediately. Item 9 struck a nice functional balance for me with its jack-of-all-trades effect profile (even if I would fit it into my evening more than my morning) and rich terpene heavy flavor. Bedford Grow continues to impress me with their live extracts, and this was no exception. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, click here.
