Review: Jack Herer Pod by Airo
Roughly, every three months, a new pod and battery system hits the market hoping to stake a claim in an increasingly crowded category. Despite this onslaught of challengers, one of the longest standing vape and pod brands still out is multi-state brand Airo. I recently picked up the Jack Herer Pod to review.
Airo’s Jack Herer Pod is a distillate-based oil infused with botanically derived terpenes. This batch of oil tested at 0.26% CBD, 76.73% THC, and 84.97% total cannabinoids.
The Airo Pro battery I paired with the pod was a metal-bodied nine-sided (nonagon?) tube in a matte gray. The pod slid down into the battery, protecting the glass and exposing only the translucent yellow mouthpiece. There were no buttons, a USB port on the bottom, and only one power setting, “On.” A vibration that lasted for the duration of the pull indicated a successful hit. The Airo system stands out still as one of the simplest I’ve reviewed.
Much more orange and lime peel than fruit flesh, the flavor leaned hard into the citrus tones Jack Herer is known for. Smaller hits were sweeter and reminiscent of a lemon shake up, especially on a hot summer day. Longer rips unlocked a more artificial orange tone with slightly more depth, but overall the flavor was light. There was little staying power and no indication of “cannabis” aromas in the vapor, making it a good choice for the discrete consumer.
The Jack Herer pod was very functional with an energy-lifting headchange that sharpened my awareness but dulled my focus. Light tingles moved across my body, accompanied by a sensation of lightness in my arms and legs. There was a sharp peak on the front end of the experience, especially after a few large hits all at once, but a surprising staying power to the headchange kept me anxiety free for more than an hour.
