Review: Jealousy by FloraCal
In the ever-evolving world of cannabis, it’s hard to ignore the magnetic pull of hype strains. The cannabis market thrives on the constant pursuit of the latest and greatest, especially when it comes to genetics. One strain commanding attention across the industry is Jealousy, crowned as Strain of the Year in 2022. I was unaware FloraCal Farms had brought this strain to Illinois, until I made a stop at the River Bluff Cannabis grand opening in Roselle Saturday.
Created by Seed Junky Genetics, Jealousy is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Sherbert Bx1 and Gelato 41. This batch of flower tested at 1.24% THC, 25.24% THCa, and 26.48% total cannabinoids.

The chunky popcorn nugs glimmered in the light, carrying a deep green undertone. Rusty hairs hugged the surface of the flowers, while a silver-like trichome frost concentrated at the creases, lending the buds a lighter visual tone. Despite their density and surface dryness, a gentle pinch revealed some resilience, bouncing back when compressed.
The aroma from the jar was delicate, demanding a more in depth exploration. Upon closer inspection, notes of soil, cream, peanut butter, and a hint of decaying fruit funk emerged. On the palate, the dominant flavors of soil and peanut butter were prominent, accompanied by an additional, previously unidentified element—a distinct burnt rubber note that surfaced towards the finish, offering a contrasting element to the overall flavor profile.
Jealousy quickly induced mental relaxation, resulting in a slightly unfocused and hazy state. It presented challenges for cognitive tasks, causing a noticeable mental block. However, Jealousy excelled in providing a growing sense of bodily lightness over time.
While often described as a strain that combines a relaxed mind with an energized body, it offered more of a complete relief from physical tension rather than a distinct boost of energy. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
