Review: Kay Preroll Pack by Northern Heights
I’ve been on the road more lately, which means my joint intake has been on the upswing. Luckily, there’s never been more variety to the category with labels releasing a wide range of preroll packs and strains. I recently stopped at Emerald Dispensary and Lounge and, upon a budtender’s recommendation, picked a pack of Northern Heights Kay prerolls to review.
Kay is an evenly balanced hybrid cross of unknown origin. This two pack of 0.5-gram prerolls tested at 0.84% THC, 28.34% THCa, and 30.06% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were β-myrcene, limonene, and linalool.

Two stubby cones with Northern Heights branded crutches carried deep-forest green, coarsely ground flower with small flecks of purple highlights. The first joint burned clean and evenly straight from the tube, but the second required some maintenance to stop some canoeing halfway through.
The aroma inside the tube was a warm, rich mix of fresh pine, earth, cut cedar, and black pepper with a lighter mix of dried flower potpourri and vanilla. The richnness translated well to the palate leading with the pine and cedar on the inhale, while still preserving the delicate floral and vanilla tones on the exhale. The smoke was notably heavy, coating the mouth and sticking to the tongue for several minutes post exhale.
Kay induced a strong body pressure almost immediately building from a core focused body buzz to an all over, muscle relaxing, weighted blanket sensation that was heavier than I anticipated. Mentally, Kay struck the opposite chord, lifting my mood and releasing a wave of creative energy. The juxtaposition of heavy body pressure and mentally energy was unique, making Kay more “half sativa/half indica” than a true hybrid.
