Review: Mona June by Crops
It’s always a treat when I get to try a cannabis label I’ve never tried. When that cultivator is growing a strain that I’ve never even heard of, well that cranks the novelty to 10, and I have to try it out. Mona June by Crops is a label and genetic pairing that I’ve never had the pleasure of sampling so I picked up an eighth of the Justice Cannabis Co. flower from Trinity Compassionate Care.
Mona June is a hybrid cross of Lime OG and Tropical Orange Bomb. This batch of flower tested at 23.62% THCa, 1.61% CBGa, and 25.67% total cannabinoids. The terpenes were 2.08% of the total panel with β-myrcene, ocimene, α-pinene, and β-caryophyllene being the most prevalent.

This eighth came to me as a few large popcorn flowers alongside a couple thumb sized, Christmas tree-shaped cola tops. These flowers were a bright turf green with thick patches of dried fire orange hairs appearing at random. Thick trichome frost covered the buds and concentrated at the creases where sugar leaves had once been. The trim was well executed with a few remaining sugar leaf remnants.
The strong aroma on this Mona June eighth I detected through the closed jar while first handling it. Undercurrents of cinnamon, cedar, black pepper, ginger, and freshly turned soil, supported the dense combination of lime zest, orange, hops, dill, and salty ocean at the top. The flavor carried a lot of the sweet citrus on the front end, really highlighting the orange and lime. The exhale delivered heavy cinnamon and ginger.
Mona June had a fast onset, hitting with a tingly euphoria that sent waves throughout my body and kept doing so for the duration of the experience. Without a big boost of motivation or energy, small and large doses alike made me more open and sociable, ready to chat with anyone that would have me.
I found Mona June’s effect profile quite versatile, and I could smoke Mona June in the morning with my coffee or as a nightcap before bed easily. Overall, I was happy with the multi-layered flavor and versatile effect profile on Mona June. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
