Review: Nimbus Snacks by Royale
When bringing a new label to market it helps to have some attention catching products ready to go on day one. Ascend’s new Royale brand is following this strategy by coming to market with a flagship strain, Nimbus Snacks. I recently stopped into Ascend Downtown Springfield and picked up an eighth to review.
Nimbus Snacks is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Durban Mints and GSC. The batch of flower tested at 0.168% CBDa, 0.877% THC, 30.353% THCa, and 32.484% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 3.56% of the total weight with terpinolene, β-caryophyllene, and β-myrcene being the heaviest.
Three large, rounded, tightly dried flowers carried an all-over undertone of olive, some curled in fire orange hairs and random splashes of forest green and purple. The tight flowers were hard to the touch but left a satisfying hashy greasiness on my fingers and ground up into a light and fluffy texture with ease.
The aroma filled the air as soon as I opened the jar with a tangy blend of sharp mustard, lemon, burnt orange, salty ocean and diesel. Nimbus Snacks burned cleanly and even large hits were easy to deal with. Tangy lemon, diesel, and burnt orange stood out on the top end of the flavor profile, followed by surprising notes of fresh rose and cucumber that were undetected in the aroma.
Nimbus Snacks was a slow-building sativa with a wide-open energized headspace setting in almost ten minutes after finishing a bowl. The boost in energy was considerable, making Nimbus Snacks a good wake and bake and Work Sativa choice. A single bowl left me motivated, positive, and focused. Multiple bowls in a sesh left me too racy to stay on task. The physical profile was light with limited inflammatory relief in my joints and most of the experience was cerebral. Overall, Nimbus Snacks was a terpene and flavor heavy sativa with an energetic buzz that I enjoyed for work.
