Review: Northern Lights Haze by The Botanist
Recently, In Grown Farms has undergone a rebrand, securing its entire profile under The Botanist label. The company has taken this opportunity to release new cultivars and improved rereleases from its genetic catalog. Northern Lights Haze has been with the company for a long time, so I picked up a sample of the strain, under the new The Botanist brand, to see how it had changed.
This cut of Northern Lights Haze is a backcross of the plant that is originally a cross of Northern Lights and Haze. The batch of flower tested at 0.52% THC, 22.03% THCa, and 23.26% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were myrcene at 1.79%, caryophyllene at 0.35%, and ocimene at 0.35%.

Six pointed-popcorn buds filled the bottom of the jar with a bright olive-green-base tone highlighted by short dried fire orange hairs. Ambering trichome stalks and heads dotted the outside of the flower and lightened up the overall color. These buds felt dry to my fingers while breaking down but left a hashy greasiness after handling.
Sharp diesel, hops, concentrated cleaner, vinegar, and lime featured over softer and sweeter tones of lily, grapefruit, and mango, to create a complex sweet and sour aromatic profile. The notes of diesel and hops were directly translated from the aroma to the palate, creating a sharp and tangy front end followed by flavors of basil and dill.
Northern Lights Haze was a sativa boost that stopped just short of becoming racy or unfocused. Carrying a brightened and widened awareness by the end of my bowl, I found it easy to work on complex or creative projects. Energetic through and through, Northern Lights Haze induced a slow-building tingling sensation that peaked at the half hour and left me feeling lighter for the rest of the day. The complex flavor profile and Work Sativa buzz made this a good fit for me, and I’m excited to see what else the label does with this classic sativa.
