Review: Orange Mojito by The Botanist
While we love all types of effects and flavors of cannabis here at Illinois News Joint, we cannot deny the special place we have for energetic citrus-heavy strains. The Botanist caught my attention with its recently released Orange Mojito. Not only did the name promise a citrus-heavy profile, the genetics leaned toward the sativa side of the spectrum. I recently stopped into Nature’s Care Co. in Rolling Meadows and picked up a sample of the new drop to review.
Orange Mojito is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Orange Cookies and SinMint Cookies. This batch of flower tested at 1.08% THC, 27.77% THCa, and 29.34% total cannabinoids. Listed terpenes were β-caryophyllene at 0.63%, limonene at 0.47%, and β-myrcene at 0.23%.

Six long, sharply pointed Christmas-tree-shaped flowers made up the half ounce. The bright green base tone was consistent across the sugar leaves with thick bunches of orange hairs and a milky trichome frost adding some variety. Very dense to the squeeze with an almost imperceptible bounce back, there was still a lot of fluffiness left in the grind and a tacky stickiness left on my fingertips after handling.
The sweet orange tone was unmistakable at the top of the aroma, but the note was paired with a creamy vanilla and cocoa tone that cut through the citrus sharpness. Notes of magnolia and grapefruit also appeared near the fruity top end, while richer tones of malt, cheese, and cinnamon came in on the finish. The flavor carried the sweet orange as clearly as the aroma, but some additional cinnamon and pepper spice tones quickly pushed the sweetness back.
Orange Mojito built slowly over a 15-minute period following the finish of a bowl. Physical pains disappeared and were replaced with an overall lightness that permeated my core and left me with a floating sensation for the following hour. As the floating sensation peaked, my awareness widened and focusing was much easier, allowing me to work without mental distraction. The long tail of the experience was clean leaving a light relaxation in the wake of floating physical sensation and mental focus from the peak.
Overall the heavy citrus flavors and easygoing focus from the effect profile made Orange Mojito a good Work Sativa. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
