Review: Panama MAC #5 by PTS
Strains come, strains go. It is the nature of the dispensary menu. Sometimes, if you don’t take your chance on a cultivar, it can be months before the opportunity arises again. That’s exactly where I was with Panama MAC #5, which I first spotted in September of last year. When I picked up a batch of new Progressive Treatment Solutions samples from Consume Marion, I was excited to see Panama MAC #5 on the list.
Panama MAC #5 is a hybrid cross of Macnanna and Panama Red #5. This batch of flower tested at 1.86% CBGa, 0.56% Delta-9-THC, 26.18% THCa, and 28.6% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 2.07% of the total weight with terpinolene, β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, limonene, and ocimene being the most prevalent.

Large cola tips trimmed into pointy Christmas trees filled the jar. Panama Mac was deep forest green with fire-orange hairs and a light airy structure. The larger flowers were nicely trimmed with a sparkling trichome frost, but the smaller buds had a bit more sugar leaf left over.
The aroma opened with a tropical tangy blend of mango, pineapple, green apple, and lemon. Past the tang there was an undercurrent of cinnamon, pine, and soil that held everything together. The soil and lemon were the heaviest flavors on the palate, but hints of the pineapple, pine, and mango notes landed on the finish.
Panama MAC gave me a burst of energy at the outset that waned quickly, morphing into a relaxed happiness that characterized the remainder of the experience. My torso and crown began to buzz as the wave of initial energy wore off eventually becoming a strong pressure. Interestingly, Panama MAC also suppressed my hunger pretty reliably.
While Panama MAC didn’t give me enough of a boost to be classified as a “sativa,” the initial energy and playful attitude it provided made it better suited for socializing or being out than relaxing at home. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
