Review: Papaya Juice by CAM
I’ve been searching for a fruit-forward sativa to use as my “strain of the summer.” To my pleasant surprise, there are a lot of candidates on the market right now. Pharmacann’s new CAM label fits the bill with its Papaya Juice, so I picked up an eighth to review from Verilife Romeoville.
Papaya Juice is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Papaya and an Unknown Strain. This batch of flower tested at 1.03% Delta 9 THC and 25.72% THC. Terpenes were 3.41% of the total weight with limonene, β-caryophyllene, and linalool being the heaviest.
Four just-larger-than popcorn-sized flowers carried a range of green hues with pale olive at the core and sugar-leaf pieces of lime and pea accenting. Long stalked trichomes, half milky, half amber, brightened the entire appearance. The flower was well dried but very dense and sticky when broken up, leaving a tacky sensation on the fingertip.
A sweet tropical blend of papaya, pineapple, banana, and orange flesh hit the nose as soon I opened the jar. Underneath the sweet top note, a blend of sage and lime peel created a clean transition to an earthier-closing tone of freshly turned soil and cedar. The flavor carried a much less direct version of the tropical fruit note, striking the palate as more pine and chemical tone than fruit. The earthy finish quickly followed with the cedar carrying the heaviest flavor. Despite the complexity, Papaya Juice had very little staying power and left a clean palate in its wake.
Fast acting with an open and spacious headspace, Papaya Juice lifted my energy level and unlocked a window of creative thought and talkativeness that lasted for almost 45 minutes. An overall muscle relaxation and distraction from chronic pain characterized the physical side of the strain, but the bulk of the effect was energetic mental boost. CAM delivered on a fruit forward and energetic sativa that definitely made a good summer strain offering.
