Review: Peanut Better Cups by SweetBuzz
The last of the flavors I reviewed from the SweetBuzz Sweet Somethings line is without a doubt the most classic, Peanut Butter Cups, called Peanut Better Cups. News Joint Events is set to host SweetBuzz as one of more than 30 craft brands offering samples at the Illinois Craft Showcase from 12-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at Molly’s Joint.
SweetBuzz Peanut Better Cups come as a ten-pack of Peanut Better Cups infused with 10mg of THC per piece. The ingredients are milk chocolate coating (sugar, palm kernel oil, cocoa powder, whey powder, nonfat milk powder, soy lecithin, and vanilla), peanut butter (roasted peanuts, sugar, molasses, fully hydrogenated vegetable oils (rapeseed and soybean), mono and diglycerides, salt), sugar, corn starch, and THC extract.
The individually wrapped cups sat comfortably in the hand at roughly an inch at the widest point with a creamy milk-chocolate brown exterior and familiar ridges on the edge. The chocolate was soft and started to melt in my hand if held too long. The interior contained a creamy pale colored peanut butter that made me realize how dry a standard Reese’s filling is. Combined, the peanut butter and chocolate provided a smooth melty mouthfeel reminiscent of a high-end chocolate.
Sweet at first, the rich-chocolate shell provided a cushion before giving way to a salty roasted peanut tone. The peanut butter was very natural tasting, providing a contrast to the sugar heavy chocolatey coating. Alone, the chocolate exterior could have been cloying, but the two worked together to create a balanced overall-flavor profile.
SweetBuzz uses a fast-acting THC emulsion tech that set in faster than a standard edible with a tightening pressure setting into my crown, eyebrows, and chest after 15 minutes. Mentally, a cool and collected headspace took over, providing some relief from my anxiety. My energy levels remained steady from baselevel. The pressure pulled at my body, and the calm headspace slowed my train of thought.
Overall, the Peanut Better Cups were a high-quality candy experience with a fast-acting high that was more similar to a smoked buzz than an eaten one. For Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here. For more Illinois cannabis industry news, subscribe to Illinois News Joint’s newsletter here.
