Review: Peanut Butter Cherry Pie by Kaviar
I recently celebrated Pi Day by exploring a pie-based strain I found on the Star Buds Burbank menu, Peanut Butter Cherry Pie by Kaviar. Intrigued by the big name, I stopped in and picked up an eighth to review.
Peanut Butter Cherry Pie is a hybrid cross of Cherry Pie and OG Kush. This batch of flower tested at 1.577% CBGa, 32.897% THCa, and 34.474% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.76% of the total weight with limonene, β-caryophyllene, β-myrcene, and β-pinene being the heaviest.

Three just-larger-than-popcorn flowers and one standout larger nug carried an olive-green base color beneath an ambering-trichome frost and bunched and curled bundles of fire-orange hairs. Tightly dried and dense, these buds took some effort to get through my grinder with just a little fluffiness left once ground.
The scent from the jar carried tangy hints of unripe berry at the very top followed closely by richer tones of leather, cured tobacco, salty funky sweat, and warm toasted nuts on the finish. Despite the dense, tightly dried nature of the buds, the flavor carried through well on a supple smoke that was well handled even with large, deep hits. The savory tones outweighed the light berry notes on the palate. The cured tobacco, funky sweat, and toasted nuts were the strongest highlights.
Peanut Butter Cherry Pie hit as a center-spectrum hybrid creating a headband at my crown almost immediately. A slow-to-build boost of energy left me playful and talkative for the next half hour. As the energy boost and playful attitude peaked and the headband spread outward into my body as an overall floating sensation, a case of munchies set in reliably. Peanut Butter Cherry Pie was good for anytime of day, as long as I kept some snacks nearby. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
