Review: Pink Runtz by Cannect Wellness
A time existed in the Illinois market when the heaviest consumers could name not only all the labels but also most of the strains those labels grew. Thankfully, with the addition of craft growers such as Cannect Wellness, the Illinois market now has a greater selection to choose from. Cannect recently announced a huge list of upcoming releases, so I stopped into Emerald Dispensary and Lounge and picked up a popcorn quarter of Pink Runtz to review.
Pink Runtz is a hybrid cross of Runtz and Pink Panties, originally bred by Copycat Genetics. This popcorn quarter tested at 3.286% THC, 26.59% THCa, and 30.178% total cannabinoids.

This quarter was a hefty handful of small popcorn pieces and budlets with a deep-olive drab-base color further darkened by royal-purple sugar-leaf pieces. Small bunched-orange hairs and a trichome layer that was right in the middle of the milky to amber transition added some highlights. The buds had a nerfy sponginess and lively bounceback when pinched but ground into a finely milled fluff in my grinder.
The top of the aroma was a clean cotton candy sugar note followed closely by a blend of artificial grape, artificial cherry, and heavy cream. Underneath this initial sweet aroma was a chemical and herbal blend of fresh vinyl, ocean brine, lemongrass, and leafy greens. The sweet notes of cotton candy and artificial fruit carried through to the palate, creating a simple, straightforward sugary flavor profile.
A wave of muscle relaxation and pain relief was paired with on-and-off waves of euphoric tingling. My energy level remained stable, but a haziness overtook my headspace and awareness making focusing almost impossible. Pink Runtz reliably boosted my mood, an effect I kept returning for.
