Review: Polar Express Live Sugar by Grassroots
I seem to be smoking more and more concentrates during the day. In the past, I normally medicated with indica strains with heavy body buzzes to knock me out late at night. The last few months, I have been using my Little Dipper to smoke energetic sativa during work hours. As part of this change in medication, I also am trying to sample more types of extracts than my preferred budders and badders. So I picked up from Curaleaf Mokena a daytime concentrate: Curaleaf’s Polar Express Live Sugar by Grassroots.
Polar Express is sativa-leaning hybrid autoflower cross of Northern Lights #5 with a Californian Kush and Lowryder. This 1 gram of live sugar tested at 2.09% THC, 82.66% THCa, 0.25% CBDa, and 87.18% total cannabinoids. Primary terpenes included b-caryophyllene, b-myrcene, a-pinene, limonene, and b-pinene.

The Polar Express Live Sugar was dark brown and clumped together with moister that allowed me to easily separate the correct dosage. The aroma hit with earthy pine on the front end and notes of cinnamon, citrus, hops, and turpentine.
The flavor was similar but with more citrus and sweet pine on the front of the inhale, followed by cinnamon and spicy pine on the back end. The exhale produced heavier spice, kush, cinnamon, and earthy wood flavors.

The effects fit well for our Work Sativa review series. Polar Express delivered an energetic and creative head high with a relatively clearheaded mindset. The cerebral high stayed energetic but not racy or overwhelming.
The body buzz crept in slowly until the point of a soft overall relaxation that also allowed me to perform physical work. Overall, Polar Express may be a good start for those who enjoy sativa effects and want to try concentrates for the first time without getting overwhelmed by potency or tiring effects.
