Review: Purple Punch Preroll by Paul Bunyan
It can be difficult to keep up with the proliferation of cannabis labels in Illinois, even when it’s part of your job description. Progressive Treatment Solutions’ new Paul Bunyan label caught me by surprise when I spotted it on the menu at Consume Marion. I picked up a sample of the Purple Punch preroll to see what the new label had to offer.
Purple Punch is an indica leaning hybrid cross of Larry OG and Granddaddy Purple. This preroll tested at 0.32% THC, 19.3% THCa, and 20.17% total cannabinoids.

The aroma from the tube was a sweet blend of berries, artificial candy grape, and grassy hops. Even after considerable “prework” breaking up the very tightly packed cone, the Paul Bunyan preroll required a hard pull to get a hit.
The flavor inside was less fruity and sweet than the aroma in the tube, providing rich earthy notes of freshly turned soil, cured tobacco, and roasted nuts. While the grape and berry notes were somewhat subdued, they still lingered on the finish, leaving behind subtle sweet hints.
I was surprised by the hybrid style effects I found in Purple Punch, which differed from my previous experiences with its parent strain Granddaddy Purple. While Granddaddy Purple typically delivers a heavy indica-style high, Purple Punch had a more balanced and calming effect. It quieted my racing thoughts and helped me stay focused.
Physically, there was very little effect other than a slight tingle in my chest. The high peaked quickly, leaving me with a pleasantly relaxed headspace that lingered long after I finished smoking. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
