Review: Raspberry Shortcake by Revolution
While Revolution’s genetic library boasts a large variety of experiences, in my mind, Revolution is always associated with the creamy doughy flavor perfected in strains, such as Cookie Crasher. When I noticed Raspberry Shortcake as one of the cultivator’s entries in the High Times Sativa Flower Cannabis Cup, I couldn’t help but wonder how the release balanced sweet berry and that classic doughy tone.
Raspberry Shortcake is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Raspberry Bellini and Slapz. This batch of flower tested at 0.41% THC, 20.19% THCa, and 20.89% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were β-caryophyllene, limonene, α-humulene, linalool, and β-myrcene.

One chunky, carefully trimmed, royal purple and turf-green bud sat inside the jar. The trichome layer was noticeably dense with developed milky trichomes at all points, glittering when held up to light. Spongy, with a bounceback, this flower was well dried and cured.
Bright notes of fresh blackberry, strawberry, and lime provided the top end of the scent profile while heavier aromas of freshly turned soil and heavy cream provided the undertone that tied the experience together. As noted, the dry and cure was on point and the flower smoked smooth and easy. The flavor carried the same heavy cream and berry tones from the aroma, but there were undetected tones of fresh hops and pepper that created additional depth.
Raspberry Shortcake provided a much more middle-spectrum hybrid effect than the sativa label indicated. While euphoric tingles opened the physical side of the experience, this quickly turned into a much heavier physical pressure after a half hour. Mentally, it was easy to create and work throughout as Raspberry Shortcake punched up my energy and focus that was sustained for more than an hour with a clearheaded comedown.
