Review: Ratio Edibles by Effin’ Edibles
As the wellness-focused portion of the cannabis market has progressed, minor cannabinoids have become increasingly important to many consumers. The new Ascend label Effin’ Edibles has released a line of gummies with specialized minor cannabinoid formulas targeting specific effect profiles. I recently stopped at Ascend Fairview Heights and picked up the entire line to review.
Each gummy was a half-inch cube encrusted with sugar and had the same stiff gumdrop-like texture. Vibrantly colored, the flavors were reflected in the appearance; yellow for piña colada, red for strawberry tequila, orange for peaches and honey, purple for sour açaí, and deep crimson for dark cherry. The smaller size made it easy to take multiple doses at once or mix and match the flavors for more novel experiences.

The flavors were straightforward, if slightly artificial, interpretations of their namesakes. There was a hint of ethanol alcohol on the back end of almost every flavor due to the minor cannabinoid infusions. Effin’ seemingly worked with this limitation by leaning into alcohol-friendly flavors like strawberry tequila and piña coladacolada. The peach and honey flavor was an almost perfect facsimile of the classic peach rings, while the deep sleep dark cherry was reminiscent of old-school cherry cough drops. Standout among the batch was the sour açaí which delivered a clean and natural blueberry flavor.
The minor cannabinoids helped to create a line of gummies with a wide spectrum of effects. The Effin’ Showtime piña colada were one of the most energetic experiential profiles I’ve experienced in an edible. Less than 30 minutes after a gummy, I found my thoughts racing and muscles tingling with a euphoric buzz. Higher multi gummy doses could be overwhelmingly energetic.
Effin’ Create strawberry tequila was closer to what I desire in a sativa-style gummy, a clearheaded calm that stopped my train of thought while sharpening my focus. Great for work, the Create gummies lightened my muscle tension enough to relieve some pain points without becoming distracting.
Effin’ Zen peaches and honey worked to augment my current mood. During the day, they helped to center me, keeping me agreeable and calm during work. At night, they became heavier, wiping away worries and lulling me to sleep while watching TV. Effin’ Relief sour açaí was much more physically than mentally focused, wiping away even the deepest pain points. Notably, these gummies calmed a spine injury that has persisted for more than a decade that very few edibles can touch.
The Effin’ Deep Sleep dark cherry seemed to come on all at once with a real overwhelming “lights out” wave of tiredness at the 45-minute mark. These were a good fit for bouts of insomnia or simply as a bit of “sleep insurance” to ensure a good rest.
