Review: Romulan Prerolls by Aerīz
Certain strains can make a mark on a cannabis consumer’s journey. Romulan has a special place in my “weed story” as the first named strain I consistently had access to in the days before legalization. Aerīz has recently added the classic (to me) cultivar, Romulan, to the brand’s lineup.
Romulan is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of White Rhino and an unnamed indica mother plant. These prerolls tested at 0.9% THC and 26.73% THCa.
Two small stubby cones were packed back-to-back inside the tube. Just under two-and-a-half-inches long, each joint was half Aerīz-branded crutch, half deep-forest green bud. The cones were tightly rolled, and even after trimming the end and rolling them between my fingers, they still required some babysitting to catch some canoeing.
Inside the jar an earthy and natural combination of turned soil, fresh rain petrichor, roasted mushrooms, rose, and geranium teased the nose. New notes were revealed with each inhale. The flavor leaned more herbal with notes of roasted thyme and rosemary accompanying the turned soil and roasted mushroom notes from the aroma, while the floral tones completely disappeared. The roasted-herb tones had considerable staying power and could be detected on the palate for more than a half hour post joint.
A tight headband of pressure set in before I had finished the joint, building over the following fifteen minutes into a heavy weighted full body couchlock pressure. The mental experience followed the same arc, opening as collected and anxiety free headspace before becoming hazy and unfocused. The back end of the experience left me with a tired body and clouded headspace that made Romulan best fit for the end of the day as a nightcap.
