Review: Sherb Cake by Northern Heights
While a cultivator can be judged on any product it produces, real insights can be gained when sampling the same genetics across multiple cultivators. I’ve tried Sherb Cake from multiple growers in the Missouri and Michigan markets. Now, a new brand, Northern Heights by Oregonix, has brought Sherb Cake to the Prairie State. I recently stopped into nuEra Champaign and picked up an eighth to review.
Sherb Cake is a hybrid cross of Sunset Sherbert and Wedding Cake, originally bred by Seed Junky Genetics. This batch of flower tested at 0.14% CBCa, 0.43% CBGa, 1.2% Delta 9 THC, 21.02% THCa, and 22.79% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 1.74% of the total weight with β-caryophyllene, linalool, and α-humulene being the heaviest.

One large thumb-sized cola was the star of the show, accompanied by a few popcorn sized pieces of flower. Deeply colored, the buds carried a vibrant purple tone accented by splotches of bright turf-green and dried fire-orange hairs clinging to the surface. Lively to the touch, these flowers bounced back when squeezed and left a hashy greasiness on the fingertip.
Sweet notes of heavy cream blended into fresh strawberry and blueberry on the top end followed by hints of lime rind, honeysuckle, and vanilla. The back end of the aromatic profile turned gassy with petrol standing out from earthy undertones of soil and musk. The sweet cream was the heaviest carry over from aroma to palate. The berry tones became richer flavors of blackberry and currant and the gassy tones fell away.
A single bowl of Sherb Cake wiped my mind clean, leaving a wide-open but relaxed and unmotivated space in the wake. The physical aspect was much more slower with a light tingle at my core building over the next half hour into a full blown couch locked indica blanket of pressure.
The headspace remained relaxed and open but admittedly lazy. Sherb Cake was flavorful and best fit for the end of the day when I could fully savor the heavily relaxing experience. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
