Review: Slurricane by Grassroots/Curaleaf
It’s no secret that I prefer high-energy sativa strains with focus and motivation for day use. My second choice for effects, though, is a heavy knock-me-out-before-bed strain for night use. It’s also no secret I prefer citrus, fruit, sweet, chem, and diesel flavors to the traditional indica earthy, woody, and hashy flavors. When I realized I had no heavy indica to knock me out at night, I searched for a strain with fruity and sweet terpenes. So while at Curaleaf Mokena, I picked up an eighth of Slurricane by Grassroots.
Slurricane is an indica cross of Do-Si-Dos and Purple Punch. This batch tested at 0.43% THC, 22.15% THCa, and 25.33% total cannabinoids. The primary terpenes included limonene, b-caryophyllene, linalool, a-pinene, and b-pinene.

This eighth came as several small oblong-shaped dense buds with more dark purple than green colors. Reddish-orange pistils sporadically poked out from the creamy trichome-whiskered buds.
The aroma hit with a sweet and sour grape, sugared berries, diesel, and cherry turpentine. The flavor first struck with a strong candy grape and then followed with a berry punch and sweet diesel. The exhale carried added diesel and notes of sweet earthiness and sour grapes.

The effects delivered a heavy head high and body buzz. The quick head-high onset struck with a pressure in the eyes and crown of the head. Several early minutes of a cerebral high that releases mental stress and worries quickly turned into a cloudier thought process with a more relaxing and carefree mindset.
Slurricane’s body buzz also produced a quick onset with heavy effects. The body buzz came in waves that built on top one another for a heavier and heavier effect. Eventually, the body buzz caught up to the head high and took over the entire buzz, causing a tranquilizing effect in body and mind.

I medicated with Slurricane late at night (actually early morning) after I stopped working and wanted to quickly crash. Each night, after binging a few episodes of Mr. Show, the Slurricane buzz had me couchlocked with a heavy-blanketed body buzz and a mental awareness streaming straight for unconsciousness.
Overall, the Slurricane strain delivered what I wanted in a nighttime strain: heavy head high and body buzz that eventually knocked me out after work, especially for nights in which I worked later than usually and did not have proper time to decompress my mind and body before falling sleeping.
