Review: Sour Black Cherry RSO Gummies by Encore
For truly “medical grade” cannabis treatment, the gold standard is RSO. Only a few labels in Illinois are producing straight RSO or RSO-infused edibles, so I pay attention when I spot them on a menu. Verano imprint, Encore, recently launched a Sour Black Cherry RSO Gummy. I picked up from Emerald Dispensary a sample to review.
Encore Sour Black Cherry RSO Gummies come as a 10 pack of gummies with 10mg of THC per piece. Crimson red and generously coated with sugar, each six-sided gummy was just under an inch at the widest point and a third-of-an-inch thick. These gummies carried a stiff gumdrop texture through and through, without any bounce back in the hand or on the chew.

A sharp, acidic opening note made good on the gummies sour promise. A straightforward black-cherry tone followed, carefully walking the line between natural cherry and cough-syrup-style artificial flavor. The sour opening and sweet cherry flavor worked well to conceal the earthier notes of black pepper and slate during the chew, but these heavier notes stuck to the tongue for a few minutes after the fruitier tones had disappeared from the palate.
These gummies had a long fuse, only starting to hit me by the forty-five-minute mark and taking a full 75 minutes to reach the peak. Providing a peaceful, serene headspace that allowed me to focus, these RSO gummies were good for working during the first half of the experience. Slowly though, the physical presence built from a warming wave of muscle relaxation to a distracting fully body weighted-blanket pressure. Overall, Encore provided a truly sour flavor profile with a heavy RSO-style experiential profile.
The ingredients were sugar, water, pectin, sodium bicarbonate, caprylic triglycerides, natural and artificial flavors, propylene glycol, alcohol, sodium citrate, cannabis oil, high fructose corn syrup, glycerin, Red 40, modified starch, xanthan gum, carrageenan gum, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, citric acid, malic acid, and MCT oil.
