Review: Space Junkie by Triple 7
One of the Illinois labels with the fewest number of reviews in our archive is Triple 7 by Columbia Care. The premium label has limited availability at the dispensaries closest to me, so I’m always interested when I spot releases from the brand. Space Junkie was the singular Triple 7 entry for the High Times Sativa Flower Cannabis Cup this year.
Space Junkie is a sativa-leaning hybrid cross of Starfighter and Tres Dawg. This batch of flower tested at 1.66% CBGa, 0.89% THC, 29.75% THCa, and 32.31% total cannabinoids. The indicated terpenes were terpinolene at 1.31%, eucalyptol at 0.43%, and β-myrcene at 0.24%.
A singular large pointed flower carried undertones of bright turf green, supporting outreaching fire orange hairs and a layer of trichomes that had just turned milky. The flower was closely trimmed and a few points in the trichome layers had been damaged. The bud was spongy and bounced back from a squeeze quickly and left a stickiness on my fingers.
The aroma delivered a sharp, herbal blend of fresh thyme, dill, hot diesel, and the burnt orange signature of terpinolene straight from the jar. The flower burned smooth and carried the dill and diesel over to the palate on the top end with the terpinolene once again coming in to punctuate the experience.
Space Junkie widened my awareness and reduced my anxiety quickly, setting in as the bowl ashed out. Relaxing without weighing me down, the experiential side of Space Junkie was characterized by a feeling of “openness” and a spacious headspace. Creative ideas flowed easily and quickly and my focus increased.
The physical profile delivered inflammation relief, especially in my back and a restrained feeling of overall lightness. Space Junkie was a heavily cerebral and uplifting strain, a characteristic I’ve found in CBGa heavier cultivars, and I’ll be searching this one out as a concentrate.
