Review: Spiked Punch Cake Icing by Dabstract
While Dabstract’s Illinois debut started with humble vape carts, the company is quickly expanding to offer Illinoisans the entire product line the brand offers in Washington and Michigan. I’ve already sampled the label’s terp sugar concentrate, but I recently stopped at Consume Marion and picked up a Spiked Punch Cake Icing to follow up.
Spiked Punch is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Purple Punch and Larry OG. This batch of concentrate tested at 0.23% CBDa, 2.11% THC, 76% THCa, and 81.7% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 8.42% of the total weight with caryophyllene, humulene, and limonene indicated as the heaviest.

Spiked Punch came as a “cake icing,” Dabstract’s name for badder. Two small bright sunflower-yellow mounds carried a velvety smooth texture at the surface. There was a small line of terpene heavy oil surrounding the base of each mound. The badder put up almost no resistance, scooping with the consistency of room temperature butter making for relatively precise dosing.
A floral blend of dried lavender, chamomile, and wildflowers hit my nose first before disappearing into a dense blend of orange peel, concord grape juice, cinnamon, and hot diesel. There was a sugary-candy tone underlying the overall profile, punching up the sweetness of the individual notes, even the diesel. On the palate, the light floral notes were outcompeted by the warmer blend of cinnamon, sweet grape, and hot diesel that persisted from the inhale to exhale. The flavor had a considerable cling with hints of cinnamon sticking to my tongue for more than five minutes post exhale.
A haze descended over my perception almost immediately, and a wave of clearheaded calm wiped away my anxiety, taking my focus along with it. The body profile initially led with a light euphoric lift, but this was traded for a building pressure and tired, heavy sensation in my limbs as the peak approached. The back end of the Spiked Punch buzz reliably produced a case of the munchies. Overall, Spiked Punch was good for relaxing after work and at the end of the day with an easy-going flavor profile that won’t offend anyone.
