Review: Strawberry AKeil Live Sugar by Grassroots
What would the summer be without strawberries? My favorite fruit and a few of my favorite cannabis lineages share the berry title so whether it’s the vines in my garden or dispensary menus, such as Curaleaf Mokena, I’m always delighted to encounter that sweet sign of summer. That’s what put a smile on my face when I spotted Strawberry AKeil Live Sugar from Grassroots.
Strawberry AKeil is a sativa leaning hybrid cross of two classics, AK-47 and Bubble Gum, created by Serious Seeds in Amsterdam. This batch of live sugar tested at 83.36% THCa, 0.93% THC, 0.12% CBDa, and 88.7% total cannabinoids.
This live sugar came as a small mound of deeply amber colored crystals. The terpene content helped gel the crystals together and made it easier to dose out with my scoop.
The nose was heavy from the jar leading with blueberries, strawberries, melon, cherry blossom, fresh rose, sweet cream, and lavender, all sitting atop an underlying candy sweetness. The berries and cream flavors worked together to dominate the taste profile at any temperature, and it was difficult to find the floral hashiness I had detected on the nose. Patients looking for candy sweetness would be well served with this concentrate.
The effect profile opened with a tingling euphoria radiating from my core, and even at low doses, the physical effects were the focus of the experience. The mental side of things was much more dose dependent. Smaller dabs left me playful and giggling, ready to hang out with friends or go out for the night, while larger hits left me completely headlocked and dazed, ready to become part of my couch for the evening.
Strawberry AKeil made a believer out of me on aroma alone, and I’ll seek it out again for it’s candy sweetness and flexible effect profile. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, click here.
