Review: Subzero by Cannect Wellness
Last year was Super Boof’s breakout, and it seems 2025 will be the year of the strains’ offspring as multiple labels release cuts. Cannect Wellness recently dropped a new-to-me cultivar descended from the Boof called Subzero. I stopped at Stash Orland Hills and picked up an eighth to review.
Subzero is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Oreoz and Super Boof. This batch of flower tested at 1.06% THC, 22.14% THCa, and 24.51% total cannabinoids. Terpenes were 4.48% of the total weight with β-caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, and β-myrcene indicated as the heaviest.

A handful of various-sized flowers carried a pale-olive color with flecks of black, indicating the points where sugar leaves once sat and bunches of rust-colored hairs. The trichome layer on the surface was dense with a half milky/half amber coloring brightening the underlying flower. Soft and spongy, the buds had a nerfy texture and ground into a light fluff.
The scent inside the jar was a sharp but complex mix of ocean brine, stainless steel, menthol, mint, cinnamon, lime juice, concentrated citrus cleaner, and sweet peppers. When smoked all the flavors from the aroma hit the palate simultaneously creating a taste of lemon cheesecake at the top. On the exhale, an earthy undertone of aged hash and pine was revealed, coating the tongue and sticking to the palate for a long post-smoke window.
Subzero built slowly over 20 minutes, taking a subtle calming headchange to a heavy mental fog that slowed my reaction time and killed my motivation. A floating sensation stuck with me for the duration of the experience, but it was paired with a wave of weighted-blanket pressure that became increasingly heavy. Subzero worked particularly well on physical pains, relieving some pressure in my back that most cannabis products won’t touch.
