Live Resin cartridges’ ability to carry the flavor of fresh flower and strong effect profile of a concentrate inside the convenient vape cart form factor has made them a favorite among consumers. Revolution Cannabis recently dropped a new line in the category, and I’m always excited to see an existing cultivator expand to a new space. I picked up from Enlightened Mt. Prospect a few samples of Revolution’s new line of live resin carts. First up is Sun King OG.

Sun King OG is an indica leaning hybrid cross of Louis XIII and Dosido F2 #42, created in-house by Revolution Cannabis. This live resin vape tested at 9.63% THCa, 75.9% THC, and 89.13% total cannabinoids. The primary terpenes were listed as β-caryophyllene, limonene, β-myrcene, linalool, and α-humulene.

Revolution packages its live resin cartridges in CCell branded carts with black plastic mouthpieces. Low voltages and pulsed hits provided the best results, as I’ve found for most “live” products with high-terpene content.

Key lime and cream top notes were the easiest to identify. These worked together to create a fresh key lime pie flavor that disappeared quickly. The heavy back end of the flavor profile was much more savory than sweet with pine, black pepper, roasty malt, and a hint of cheese on the finish. The sweet/savory contrast added a multi-dimensional complexity to the flavor profile and the freshness throughout was a clear result of the vapes’ live nature.

At low doses Sun King OG provided a strong mental relaxation while keeping me functional and ready to work. A hit or two tamped down anxiety while still allowing me the clarity to focus on deep work. Higher doses unlocked the physical side of Sun King OG taking the form of heavy waves of tingling sensation that reverberated throughout my body, focusing at my crown as a tight headband. Even when I reached these strong physical aspects, the mental clarity and relaxation was preserved.
