Review: TK-91 by Cresco
No matter how much innovation happens in cannabis, consumers will look for skunky, earthy, old school flavors. Cresco has catered to these buyers by tapping into a longstanding-genetic standout cross with its new TK-91 strain. Picked up at Sunnyside Champaign, TK-91 is a hybrid cross of Triangle Kush and Chem 91.
This batch of flower tested at 0.85% THC, 25.55% THCa, and 26.4% total cannabinoids. Three chunky, closely trimmed buds were very dense to the touch. Breaking down the forest-green exterior revealed the brighter turf-green remnants of sugar leaf and left a stickiness on the finger. Vibrant fire-orange hairs were thick, rising out and away from the milky trichome frost.

The aroma was warm and dense. A layered combination of hot popcorn, wet slate, dark chocolate, gas, and roasting fat created a rich tone that was heavy in the nostril. Smooth burning, a large portion of the aroma carried directly over to the palate. Notes of earth, roasted meat, cocoa, and oak worked together to stick the palate for a long time post smoke.
Heavier than the hybrid label led me to anticipate, TK-91 opened with a foggy and distractible headspace. Pressure built behind my face, morphing into a combination of euphoric tingling and heaviness across my entire body at the peak. Introspective with a slightly closed-off awareness, TK-91 was best suited for a night in alone. The long afterglow was a relaxing calm that affected both mind and body relieving both anxiety and body pain for the couple hours following the initial introspective experience.
