Review: Tropicana Punch by Lobo
Lobo’s recent flower drop is full of well-known genetics, including a strain I’ve grown in the past, Tropicana Punch. The Purple Punch descendant also fits as a late entry to my “summer flavor” hunt. I recently picked up to review an eighth of Tropicana Punch from Parkway Dispensary in Tilton.
Tropicana Punch is a hybrid cross of Tropicana Cookies and Purple Punch. This batch of flower tested at 0.033% CBDa, 0.444% THC, 30.041% THCa, and 30.518% total cannabinoids.
Four large, rounded cola tops were chunky near the bottom and tapered to a dull point at the top. Dark-purple sugar-leaf remnants and thick fire -orange hairs closely hugged the bud’s olive-green surface. The trichomes were all a solid milky white, brightening the entire flower when held to light. Despite the dense appearance, the buds broke down easily, leaving a hash-style dustiness on my fingertips.
Inside the jar, I noticed a slightly sweet, slightly creamy blend of overripe raspberry, strawberry, cherry, floral honey, wild grass, and roasted peanut butter. The flavor carried some of the same fruit tones of strawberry and cherry, but smoking seemed to unlock an additional rich, lingering finish of roasted nuts, warm tobacco, cut cedar, and cooking fat. The savory finishing notes coated the tongue, clinging to the palate for a long time after exhale.
Tropicana Punch built slowly over a half hour, initially lifting my energy level and mood leaving me talkative with company or creative alone. Light tingles started in my chest and built before the wave of euphoria crashed, becoming a tugging body pressure on the back end of the experience. The physical shift was accompanied by a mental change, swapping the energy lift for a foggy, closed-off mental state. This high-then-low profile made Tropicana Punch feel more like a combination of indica and sativa than a straight middle ground hybrid.
