Review: Tropicanna Punch Bx1 by Highsman
A handful of former NFL players have wholeheartedly thrown their post-playing career into cannabis. After starting his first cannabis company in 2018, former running back Ricky Williams is undoubtedly near the top of the list. Now, Williams has partnered with Revolution Cannabis to bring his new multistate brand, Highsman, to Illinois. I recently stopped into Enlightened Mount Prospect and picked up an eighth of Highsman Tropicanna Punch BX1 to review.
Tropicanna Punch Bx1 is a hybrid cross of Tropicanna Punch and Tropicanna Cookies F1, originally bred by Oni Seed Co. This batch of flower tested at 0.29% THC, 17.64% THCA, and 18.8% total cannabinoids.
Highsman nicknames this strain “The Big Purp,” and it was easy to see why as soon as I opened the jar. Four pointed flowers splashed with various pinks and dark purples carried thick orange hairs and a sparkling trichome frost that glistened in the light. The buds held a springy texture at the core, but the exterior had some crisp dryness to the touch.
Inside the jar, a sweet blend of artificial strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, and cherry hit the nose first, followed by a standalone vanilla tone, and then underlying notes of diesel gas, jalapeno spice, and cedar. On the palate the sweet fruit tones fell away in favor of the diesel, spicy jalapeno, and cedar notes creating a sweet nose/savory flavor juxtaposition that added depth to the experience. Despite the depth, there wasn’t much endurance to the flavor profile, and my palate was cleared quickly after exhale.
Tropicanna Punch BX1 was fast acting, setting in as soon as the bowl was finished with a slight tingle in my chest and a boost of mental clarity and energy. The light tingle built over the following forty-five minutes into stronger waves of euphoria that spread throughout the body. The mental energy was short lived but the clarity stuck with me for a couple hours, making Tropicanna Punch BX1 a solid fit for a wake and bake or as a Work Sativa.
Overall, this was a flavorful and energetic flower and a solid first showing for the Highsman brand in Illinois. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
