Review: WEPA by Kaviar
One of my favorite aspects of the Illinois cannabis industry is watching craft producers come online and continue to grow. Take Kaviar for example. Every time I check the menu, I see new Kaviar strains. I recently spotted WEPA at the label’s flagship Star Buds Burbank dispensary and stopped in to pick up a sample.
WEPA is an indica-leaning hybrid cross of Whoody Melon and Platinum OG. This batch of flower tested at 0.97% THC, 25.32% THCa, and 26.29% total cannabinoids.

This eighth of flower came as one larger nug and a handful of smaller bud pieces, each carrying a uniform forest green tone at the base and some splashes of royal purple sugar leaf remnants throughout There was a light dusting of trichomes that sparkled when held up to the light. These nugs were tightly dried and took some force to push through my grinder.
The top end of the aroma profile carried lighter notes of sweet berry and citrus as well as tones of cedarwood atop a funky overripe cheese scent that added a richness to the entire profile. WEPA smoked in the center of the harshness spectrum with some of the larger rips really hitting me in the back of the throat. The flavor highlighted the funky undertone and cedar, losing the more delicate fruit notes and delivering a decidedly savory profile.
WEPAs indica label was spot on as the fast-hitting strain induced a fog that overtook my awareness and induced a carefree attitude by the end of my joint. The physical aspect lagged behind, only fully building into a warm blanket-style indica sensation after 15 minutes. This combination of head fog and body heaviness stuck with me for just over an hour, making WEPA a solid nightcap choice.
