Review: Windy City Mints by Kaviar
After sampling the first releases from Kaviar, I’ve looked forward to sampling the label’s new strains from its in-house grows. While white labeling can still produce quality products, a certain level of quality control can only be achieved by controlling all the inputs. I recently stopped into Star Buds Burbank and picked up a few samples from Kaviar’s newest drops, starting with Windy City Mints.
Windy City Mints is a hybrid cross of Triangle Mints and Kush Mints. This batch of flower tested at 1.11% THC, 25.575% THCa, and 27.144% total cannabinoids.
This eighth consisted of five popcorn-sized flowers. Dense to the touch, the surface of these buds left a considerable hashy greasiness on my fingers when handled. Deeply colored, the forest green flowers were accented with tiny splashes of purple and thin rust colored hairs. The grind did come out slightly finer than usual.
Windy City Mint’s aroma was dense and varied with notes of aged cheese, musk, basil, peanut butter, and sweet floral perfume flowing into each other, encouraging repeated olfactory exploration. The smoke from the fine grind was smoother than anticipated and left lingering notes of the same cheese and musk notes from the aroma. The floral perfume became heavier on the palate near the finish, accompanied by an herbal mint.
Windy City Mints effects were a slow-building hybrid-spectrum mental relaxation paired with a physically energizing wave of euphoria that eventually crashed into a heavier indica-style weight. The wave of mental calm hit first, allowing me to let go of anxiety and stress but closing off my ability to fully focus. The physical euphoria followed closely, sending waves of tingles outward from my core.
Post peak, both the physical and mental effects wore down into a light calm that stuck with me for another hour. Overall, this was a flavorful flower that worked best in the afternoon. For more Illinois News Joint reviews, visit here.
