WeedMan 420 Chronicles saves the podcast day
They may not be your normal superheroes, but if you’re on the South Side of Chicago and in emergency need of a lifesaving smoke shesh with some conversation, Mr. and Mrs. WeedMan are there to save the day.
Mr. and Mrs. WeedMan, hosts of WeedMan 420 Chronicles Podcast, can be found on most major podcast platforms discussing the Illinois cannabis industry and the global realities of cannabis laws and injustices.
Located in a secret studio, WeedMan 420 Chronicles started with its first podcast April 19, 2019, and now has more than thirty episodes archived.
The idea of a cannabis themed podcast came about while Mr. and Mrs. WeedMan were having smoke sessions in a basement. The fun conversations about the industry, breaking the cannabis stigma, and fighting for legalization evolved into talks of starting a podcast to elaborate more on those discussions.
They describe their style of podcast as tending “to have a causal flow with some comedic effect and straightforward insight on the cannabis industry, with some world news, some national news, personal stories, and reports on research and development of cannabis for health benefits. We aim to learn as much as possible so we can help others learn, too.”
Mr. and Mrs. WeedMan create a loose script for the show, including the topics and who will lead particular questions and answers. From there they let the conversations flow.
The hosts smoke at the start of each episode, so “getting a little spacey is part of the show.”
“If we get a bit off task,” Mr. WeedMan said. “It’s all good. We laugh it off.”
One of the biggest benefits of hosting the podcast is that Mr. and Mrs. WeedMan are constantly learning new facts about cannabis and the industry.
“There’s so much we don’t know,” said Mr. WeedMan. “Really, that’s a good thing, because most topics that we share are filled with some amount of new information. We feel like we learn each time we research articles and news for an episode.”
WeedMan 420 Chronicles first guest was Canadian journalist, poet, and educator David Silverberg, who has written for High Times and The Medical Marijuana Review.
Some of WeedMan 420 Chronicles ideal guest would include Dr. Raphael Mechoulam, Dave Chappelle, and Jack Herer.
Mrs. WeedMan’s top ideal guest would be her mother.
“I’d love her to have her first smoke on an episode and ride out the high with us, talking about how she feels and what her thoughts are about cannabis,” said Mrs. WeedMan. Of course, she also would love to host Snoop Dogg on the show.
For now, the main goal of WeedMan 420 Chronicles is to have live guests for each episode, expand their listener base, and most importantly, break the stigmas associated with cannabis.
“We see a near future where cannabis is not federally illegal, where cannabis businesses are as common as bakeries and liquor stores, where homes have cannabis openly displayed and conversations are inclusive of cannabis in a positive light,” Mr. WeedMan said. “If we can play a small role in that big picture, we’ve succeeded.”
Other involved in the podcast include producer Shawty, editor and Twitter feed specialist Dav Boi, and sound and tech support specialist T the Tech.
