Ability to adjust while producing cannabis events, a must
The ability to adjust and overcome obstacles while producing events in any industry is a desirable asset. For the cannabis industry, it’s mandatory. We were repeatedly reminded of this lesson as News Joint Events hosted the inaugural Eve of the Eclipse Cannabis Carnival: A Masquerade and Cosplay Party at the Garden Grove Event Center Sunday.
The details about planning adjustments are boring, but the Eve of the Eclipse Cannabis Carnival also reminded me that sometimes event-planning adjustments for unexpected obstacles actually turns out better than the original plan. Moving the event to the Garden Grove Event Center less than two weeks before the event turned out to be a blessing in disguise because of the early inclement weather, amenities, and support from the Garden Grove Event Center ownership.
Another reminder: no event planner can do it alone, which is where the biggest asset is hidden: working with great people. I often use the term “quality cannabis citizen” when describing a person I believe is pushing the cannabis industry forward in a positive and productive way. The more “quality cannabis citizen” we work with, the better quality our final product becomes. How quality was this event? I don’t know, because when hosting, the event is a whirlwind blur and then over. I just returned home from the event, exhausted and grateful, and nothing has set in yet.
Now, we learn from those lessons and quickly pivot to our second event, the inaugural Academic Cannabis Conference on May 4 (more information coming soon!), as well as a VIP after party. The Academic Cannabis Conference is set for 12-5 p.m. at the Garden Grove Event Center in Carbondale, Illinois. The Academic Cannabis Conference is the first-of-its-kind interdisciplinary cannabis event set to attract more than 600 attendees from across the Illinois cannabis industry, including professionals, longtime enthusiasts, and newcomers.
