Cannabaddie founded on passion for woman’s wellness
As we approach the third year of legalization, the Illinois cannabis industry continues to expand with more than just lotteries for licensees and new dispensaries. Several ancillary businesses are finding footing with niche services than did not exist in Illinois before legalization. And usually, with niche businesses come niche passion. Case in point, Yesenia Roman’s passion for woman’s wellness and cannabis has led her to founding Cannabaddie Management.
Cannabaddie Management is a woman’s wellness website and lifestyle brand that specializes in empowering femme identifying cannabis consumers of color. As CEO, Roman believes by “representing and empowering femme identifying cannabis consumers,” her media company is reshaping the idea of what a “stoner” is.
“Through discussions on our website Cannabaddie Talk and events relating to women’s health, lifestyle, dating, and sex, we hope to reshape our approach to discussing cannabis,” Roman said. “The phrase Cannabaddie refers to someone who consumes cannabis while being a ‘baddie’. Meaning we don’t embrace the original idea of a stoner or the negative connotations that women deal with as consumers.”
For Roman, Cannabaddie Talk is the Cosmo for Weed.
“We will be taking part in pop ups and creating events specifically curated for those of us who don’t identify with today’s mainstream representation of a cannabis consumer,” Roman said. “Cannabaddie Talk is nationwide and represents people in many states. Our Speed Dating event is confirmed in multiple states as well. We hope to create femme friendly spaces at Cannabis events, businesses, and conferences across the country.”
Cannabaddie also hosts “Stoner Speed Dating” events, including one coming soon. The “Puff & Cuff: A Stoner Speed Dating Event” is set for Thursday, January 19 at RISE Lounge & Smokeasy. Puff & Cuff is a “women led dating event that creates a safe and open space for communication and consumption. Removing the seedy environment from singles events.” This event is a “Hetero- Singles Event. Ladies will be sat individually while the fellas alternate.” Arrival is at 6:30 p.m. Speed Dating rounds begin at 7 p.m.
Ticketholders will be given a “Canna-Connection” Card to fill out at the end of the rounds. If attendee makes a Canna-Connection with a fellow single, the person will be notified within 24 hours. After the speed-dating rounds, there will be additional time for mingling and flirting. Along with its website, Cannabaddie Talk can be found on Instagram @cannabaddietalk, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Cannabaddie Talk can also be reached by phone at 708-501-7692. For more Illinois cannabis industry news, visit here.
