Galesburg will soon have its first adult use dispensary after the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation awarded its fifth “secondary site” adult use cannabis license in April 17
The medical dispensary that received an early approval adult use license was Nature’s Treatment of Illinois at 735 W. Main St. in the former Aldi building.
This license will permit an existing medical cannabis dispensary to begin adult use cannabis sales at a second location, provided the dispensary complies with local zoning rules or other local laws.
Nature’s Treatment also operates a recreational and medical dispensary about 50 miles north in Milan
Five secondary site licenses have now been awarded, in addition to 49 “same site” licenses that permit medical cannabis dispensaries to sell adult use cannabis in their premises.
The list of dispensaries approved for adult use cannabis sales can be found here.
The Department anticipates receiving additional applications for early approval adult use licenses as municipalities adopt relevant zoning ordinances regarding adult use cannabis.
The Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act permits Illinois residents who are at least 21 years old to legally possess up to 30 grams of cannabis flower, 500 milligrams of THC contained in a cannabis-infused product, and up to 5 grams of cannabis concentrate.
February 14, the IDFPR announced two dispensaries that are thirteen miles apart received early approval for a “same site” adult use cannabis licenses.
The two dispensaries include Mindful Dispensary at 1433 W. Fullerton Avenue Suite. C in Addison and Nature’s Care Company at 975 Rohlwing Rd. Rolling Meadows.
The medical dispensaries that received early approval adult use licenses in January included Rise Quincy at 2703 Broadway St. in Quincy and The Green Solution at 2021 Goose Lake Road in Sauget.
The dispensary was first planned to open on Jan. 1, but that opening date, as well as the February opening date, was pushed back.
