Homegrown Review: Caramelized Oreo Chocolate by John Grow #16
One of the goals for this Medical Patient Homegrown Review Series was to showcase exactly what Illinois medical patients are creating with their own homegrown medicine. And so far, from flower to edibles, medical patients in Illinois never cease to impress.
For this Homegrown Review, John Grow #16 showcases an edible that would more likely be found in a craft candy stores rather than on a dollar-store shelf. John Grow #16, who has been a medical patient since January 2020, created with his autoflower homegrown 100mg Caramelized Oreo Chocolate. The name is a mouthful and so are the hockey-puck shaped treats.
The Caramelized Oreo Chocolate treats are a perfect mix of crunchy cookie, semi-sweet chocolate, and gooiness that create a three-part texture that blends into a new a mouthwatering combination. The Caramelized Oreo Chocolate sweet flavors masks nearly all the cannabis flavor.
To make the Caramelized Oreo Chocolate, John Grow #16 decarbs the flower and adds it to coconut oil in a crockpot with sunflower lecithin for three hours at 160 degrees. The chocolate is made with cocoa, semi-sweet chocolate chips, infused coconut oil, honey, maple syrup, vanilla, and sea salt.
This review is for the Chocolate Oreo, but John Grow #16 also creates a chocolate with candied pecans and a plain chocolate treat for melting in hot chocolate or coffee.
John Grow #16 started growing because of arthritis and joint pains make it hard for him to sleep at times. He originally developed the chocolates as a way to help his father after his father had half a lung removed. John Grow #16 realized the chocolates helped him as well.
“I do not like taking pills and cannabis has always helped with that,” John Grow #16 said. “Dispensary prices the way they are, it was a no brainer to have a legal grow and supply myself with the best medicine I can without breaking the bank. Plus, by growing my own, I can make my own extracts, bubble hash, tinctures, etc. and know the exact process used. No chemicals or anything.”
The patient requested this information be released: John Grow #16 goes by Caramelized Ginger.
