Homegrown Review: Layover #2 by John Grow #37
One aspect of the Medical Patient Homegrown Review series we have not really delved into yet is the fact that some registered medical-cannabis patient are creating their own medical strains. John Grow #37 has done just that, and now, he tells us about his creation, Layover #2.
Layover #2 is a hybrid cross of Tsa Son Goku and Dough Gee. The sticky bulbous-shaped buds are dense and have great bag appeal with forest greens and dark purples juxtaposed against a heavy cream-white coating of trichomes. Layover #2’s aroma and flavor are diverse. The aroma hits with a punch of dough, sweet hops, minty pine, and diesel, with back notes of citrus, fruit, and earthy skunk. The flavor also strikes first with the sweet dough that combines and complements the other flavors, including heavy gas, minty kush, earthy pine, and citrus.
The indica-leaning effects deliver an extremely heavy head high that is not tiresome but weighs down the entire head, especially around the forehead and eyes. The mental high walks the line between upbeat and chatty with low-key moments of mind wandering. With higher doses, unfocused thoughts or straight up mental lock can creep in.
The body buzz follows the head high with a heaviness that relaxes the neck and shoulders and spreads out from there. Each dose adds to the heaviness of the buzz until it provides a heavy-blanket feeling. Eventually, the late effects of the body buzz can cause couchlock. Layover #2 also delivers a strong appetite boost from early on in the buzz.
