Homegrown Review: MAC #1 by John Grow #8
After re-launching our Medical Patient Homegrown Reviews series with our own homegrown medicine, we return with a review of a highly sought after strain from a much more experienced grower. John Grow #8 has been growing his own medicine for as long as he has been a registered medical patient, about three years.
John Grow #8 showcased from his recent harvest the popular MAC #1 (Caps Cut) grown from a clone. The breeder Capulator created MAC1, also known as Miracle Alien Cookies, with an Alien Cookies F2 #7 mother (bred by JAWS selected by Capulator). He paired the Alien Cookies with a male Starfighter (bred by Alien Genetics) and a Colombian phenotype Capulator sourced from South America.
I have seen and sampled MAC1 flower from Illinois dispensaries, but none of them compared to the medicine that John Grow #8 grew. The buds from John Grow #8’s MAC1 had as good of a bag appeal as I’ve seen in a strain. The sticky resinous buds featured an amalgamation of green, purple, orange colors coated in trichomes.
I consider the MAC1 as one of those strains perfectly balance in aroma, flavor, and effects, and John Grow #8 brought out everything the strain offers. This harvest tested at 21% THC and boasted a flavorful terpene profile. The aroma delivered a citrus, gassy funk, and sour musk. The fantastic flavor balanced in orange zest and creamy floral on the inhale with added sweet earthy tones on exhale.
The effects also were a perfectly balance hybrid. MAC1 was potent but not overwhelming in that the effects are racy or knock you out. MAC1 was stuck perfectly in the middle with a balanced head high is strong, happy, and functional. The body buzz hit early and continued throughout but did not cause lack of motivation. Overall, John Grow #8 grew better MAC1 medicine than any Illinois dispensary has in stock.
“I started growing my own medicine to help with my medical condition but also to learn how to grow quality medicine,” John Grow #8 said. “Growing at home has been an amazing learning experience, and a very rewarding hobby. I’m just so grateful that the state of Illinois has finally given people access to cultivate their own medicine.”
