IDOA to host public hearing for rule changes to cannabis law
On Oct. 3, Illinois Register published First Notice from The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) of proposed rule changes to the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act administrative rules, and today, IDOA again announced it is set to host a public hearing on the rules. The hearing is open to anyone with questions or comments on the proposed changes.
The public hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 20 in the Auditorium of the John R. Block Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. IDOA will provide an overview of the changes and be available for questions on the rules. Attending the hearing is not required to provide comments on the rules. For those interested in attending virtually, please register to attend via Webex at this link. More information on the description of the changes can be found here.
All individuals who intend to make comments in person must indicate this when entering the hearing, and those wishing to testify virtually should send an email to AGR.Adultuse@illinois.gov by 11 a.m. on Oct. 20. The email shall include the speaker’s name and the organization or entity they represent. Speakers will be called upon in the order in which they requested to speak starting with the in-person speakers and then proceeding to the virtual speakers. Anyone making comments will need to identify themselves and any organization or entity they represent. Speakers participating virtually must be on camera. Speaking time may be limited to accommodate all who wish to speak. All comments will be recorded by a stenographer and included in the Second Notice filing for the rules. Recording of the hearing is not permitted. At the conclusion of the registered speakers, if time permits, IDOA will offer the opportunity to speak to any participant who did not register at sign in or virtually in advance.
The John R. Block Building is located at 801 E. Sangamon Ave. in Springfield, at the intersection of 8th St. and Sangamon Ave. (the admission gate closest to the building is Gate 11). Those wishing to provide written comments may email them to Sam McGee at Samuel.mcgee@illinois.gov.
