Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation announced Illinois’ December recreational sales totals today, and as such, yearly totals.

December cannabis sales totals of $137,896,859.11 were the highest monthly total since legalization, including for in-state resident sales, out-of-state resident sales, and total items sold.

The record-setting December sales boom ensured that Illinois’ 2021 yearly totals of $1,379,088,278.61 more than doubled 2020 totals of $669,084,410.12.

The in-state December resident sales totals increased to $95,634,565.57 from $81,722,303.46 in November. The out-of-state resident sales totaled shot up from $39,026,643.26 in November to $42,363,394.54 in December. Total items sold in December reached 3,180,944.

Until this record-breaking December, monthly totals have hovered in the low 120 million for the last four months, from $121,717,709.51 to $127,794,220.50.

July 2021 was the second highest monthly sales total at $127,794,220.50.
