Illinois 2022 medical cannabis sales at 2-year low
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today reported December 2022 medical cannabis sales totals. December sales of $31,405,976.35 were the most medical cannabis sales since April 2022 ($31,774,180.50). However, the overall 2022 yearly total sales of $353,601,178.56 was less than total sales from 2021 and 2020.
Although August total medical cannabis sales is estimated because of an uncorrected IDPH data entry error, Illinois medical cannabis sales for 2022 should be around $353 million. IDPH has the 2022 yearly sales totals listed at $353,601,178.56. This total is a decrease from 2021 yearly totals of $397,249,781.70 and 2020 totals of $357,119,378.27.

December’s retail sales included $14,255,331.28 in dry flower sales and $17,150,645.07 in concentrates/infused products. Licensed medical cannabis dispensaries served 65,722 unique patients, who purchased 1,235,762 grams of dry cannabis.
Total retail sales since November 2015 by licensed medical cannabis dispensaries is $1,638,776,607.69. Total 2022 wholesale sales by cultivation centers reached $533,084,457.29. Total wholesale sales since November 2015 by cultivation centers finished at $2,567,641,432.44. Illinois is and has been stuck on 55 medical cannabis dispensaries for a few years.
